What this amendment would do

SA 6536, submitted by Mr. Lee, aims to add a new section to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Defense to ensure that the following documents include citizenship status information by October 1, 2027:

  • Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Uniformed Services ID (USID) card
  • DD Form 214

The amendment specifies that this information must clearly show the citizenship status, or the lack thereof, for the person holding the card or filling out the form.
