What this amendment would do

SA 6502, submitted by Mrs. Shaheen and Mr. Tillis, aims to add a new section (SEC. 1229A) to bill S. 4784. The purpose of this addition is to require the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State to provide reports to Congress regarding the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds.

The amendment requires a report within 60 days of the Act's enactment and every quarter after that. These reports must include:

  • The total funding available for obligation.
  • The total funding obligated and expended in the previous quarter.
  • Descriptions of planned training, service contracts, equipment procurement, or other funded activities.
  • Expected delivery dates for planned equipment.
  • Details on equipment delivered in the previous quarter, including dates and quantities.
  • Explanations for any equipment delivery delays that exceeded 90 days past the previously reported date.
