Its purpose is to ensure the United States rejoins the World Health Organization (WHO) to protect national security, public health, and economic well-being.
The amendment aims to add a new section (SEC. 1210) to the bill that requires the following:
- The President and Secretary of State must take steps for the United States to rejoin the WHO within 30 days of the Act's enactment.
- The United States must immediately work with the WHO to respond to the Ebola Disease outbreak in Central and Eastern Africa.
