What this amendment would do

SA 6481, submitted by Mrs. Shaheen, is an amendment to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a new section titled "Use of Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Medication" to the United States Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Act of 2003.

This change would allow the Secretary of State to use appropriated funds for:

  • Pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV/AIDS prevention.
  • Medication for any individual living with HIV/AIDS or at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.
