What this amendment would do

SA 6475, submitted by Mr. Cassidy, is an amendment to bill S. 4784. This bill deals with appropriations for fiscal year 2027 regarding the Department of Defense, military construction, and the Department of Energy.

The purpose of this amendment is to express the sense of Congress that the Secretary of Defense should use available funds for the Department of Defense Education Activity to:

  • Hire literacy screeners.
  • Identify children at schools run by the Activity who are struggling with reading at an early age.
