What this amendment would do

SA 6402, submitted by Mr. Welch and Mr. Durbin, aims to add a new section (SEC. 1006) to the bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the Department of Defense from using its funding to support domestic immigration enforcement operations of the Department of Homeland Security.

Specifically, it prohibits the use of funds to enter into new or renew existing contracts or agreements if the primary purpose is:

  • Expeditionary logistics
  • Contingency contracting
  • Base operations support
  • Theater opening or sustainment contracting
  • Operational contract support
