What this amendment would do

SA 6374, submitted by Mr. Kelly, Mr. Warnock, and Ms. Warren, aims to add a new section to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Defense to notify the Senate and House Committees on Armed Services when a member of the Armed Forces, or their family member, is detained by the Department of Homeland Security.

This notification must happen no later than 24 hours after the Secretary of Defense learns of the detention.
