What this amendment would do
Mr. Merkley submitted the SA 637 amendment, and its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to addressing hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to be made to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to addressing hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people.
-
It may include ongoing funding of prosecutions related to hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years from 2025 through 2034.
