What this amendment would do
SA 6364, submitted by Mr. Ricketts, aims to improve how community care providers submit medical documentation to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
The amendment seeks to add the following to the bill:
-
Contract Requirements: Ensure contracts and agreements with non-Department of Veterans Affairs entities include clear requirements, including timeliness, for submitting medical documentation after a veteran receives care.
-
Internal Oversight: Require the Secretary to set goals and performance measures for Department medical centers to obtain this documentation.
-
Training and Outreach: Allow the Secretary to set goals and monitor core training for non-Department providers and ensure communications with these providers contain accurate information about submission requirements and training.
-
Reporting: Require the Secretary to submit copies of goals, performance measures, training materials, and outreach materials to the Senate and House Committees on Veterans' Affairs starting one year after the Act is enacted and annually for the next five years.
