What this amendment would do
MR. MERKLEY submitted SA 634 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
-
The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the Senate confirmation of high-level executive branch staff.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These revisions and adjustments are for legislation relating to Senate advice and consent duties, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
-
This may include requiring the head of the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization or paid or unpaid Special Government Employees unofficially serving in that role to be confirmed by the Senate.
