What this amendment would do

SA 6329, submitted by Ms. Rosen and Mr. Ricketts, aims to expand the limited consular appointment authority within the Foreign Service Act of 1980.

The amendment seeks to make the following changes:

It adds an option for personnel performing consular services to have appointments that are 8 years in duration.
It adds a new provision for a limited noncareer appointment for personnel performing consular services for a period not to exceed 2 years.
