What this amendment would do

SA 6234, submitted by Mr. Lankford, aims to add a section titled "Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience" to bill S. 4784.

The amendment changes the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act by adding the following:

  • Hazard mitigation activities: It allows an electric utility to perform cost-effective hazard mitigation activities along with activities for power restoration that are assisted under section 403.

  • Eligibility for additional assistance: It ensures that an electric utility facility receiving assistance for emergency power restoration under section 403 remains eligible for hazard mitigation assistance under section 406.

This amendment only applies to amounts appropriated on or after the date the Act is enacted.
