What this amendment would do

SA 6228, submitted by Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Kim, aims to increase the civil penalties under the Export Control Reform Act of 2018.

The amendment proposes the following changes:

  • It changes the amount of $300,000 to $1,200,000.

  • It changes "twice the value of the transaction" to "four times the value of the transaction".

These changes apply to violations of the Export Control Reform Act of 2018 or any regulation, license, or order issued under that Act that happen on or after the date the Act is enacted.
