What this amendment would do
This amendment, submitted by Ms. Baldwin, aims to add a requirement to bill S. 4784 for the Inspector General of the Department of Defense to create a report. The purpose is to investigate the Iranian drone attack on United States forces in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, that occurred on March 1, 2026, and the aftermath of that event.
The report must be submitted to the congressional defense committees within 180 days of the Act's enactment. It must cover the following:
- The reason for moving members of the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) to Port Shuaiba.
- Army medical supplies provided to the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and if any requests were denied.
- Actions taken for the physical security of the Port Shuaiba facility.
- A timeline of the attack.
- A review of medical care for injured Armed Forces members, specifically regarding proper diagnoses and care for injuries like traumatic brain injuries.
- An evaluation of whether Department of Defense public statements about the attack and medical care were consistent with the actual information.
The report will be in unclassified form, though it may include a classified annex.
