  • Development of Strategy: The Secretary, working with the Secretary of Education and other Federal agency heads, must submit a national school security strategy to specific House and Senate committees within 1 year of the act's enactment.

  • Updates: The strategy must be updated annually through 2034 if appropriate. If no updates are made, the Secretary must provide a certification stating so.

  • Strategy Contents: The required strategy must include:

    • Descriptions and spending levels of all Federal programs and authorities used to secure schools from terrorism.
    • Identification of school security vulnerabilities and goals to close them.
    • Actions and means necessary to reach those goals, including streamlining existing efforts.
    • Reviews of previous findings and recommendations from other entities to avoid unnecessary duplication.
