What this amendment would do
SA 6142, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen, aims to add a new section (SEC. 1218) to bill S. 4784.
The purpose of this amendment is to stop the President from selling or issuing export licenses for covered defense articles to the United Arab Emirates or its agencies.
This limitation remains in place until the President certifies to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations that the United Arab Emirates is not providing materiel support to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.
The covered defense articles are defined as items listed under specific categories (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, XIV, XVI, XVII, or XVIII) of the United States Munitions List.
