What this amendment would do

SA 6136, submitted by Ms. Duckworth and Mr. Durbin, aims to add a new section to title XXVIII of bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to prohibit the use of military construction funds for the following:

  • Constructing, renovating, or expanding any facility to detain migrants by the Department of Defense.

  • Constructing, renovating, or expanding any facility to facilitate migrant detention by the Department of Homeland Security, which includes housing personnel from that department.
