S.Amdt. 5991

SA 5991, submitted by Mr. Hickenlooper, aims to add a new section to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to limit how funds are used for the modification or consolidation of geographic combatant commands.

• It prevents the Department of Defense from spending authorized or available funds for fiscal year 2027 to carry out actions described in subsection (b) of section 916 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026.
• This restriction remains in place until 60 days after the Secretary of Defense provides the required certification and information specified in subsection (c) of that same section.
