What this amendment would do

SA 5943, submitted by Mr. Warnock, aims to add a section titled "Justice for United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism" to the end of subtitle G of title X of bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to change the Justice for United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Act (34 U.S.C. 20144(d)(4)(D)(iv)(IV)) by adding the following:

  • Iran hostages: It authorizes and appropriates the necessary funds to make full and complete payments for unpaid and outstanding claims under subparagraphs (B) and (C) of subsection (c)(2). These payments must be made by the Fund within 30 days after the item is enacted.

  • Limitation: It specifies that funds appropriated for Iran hostages cannot be used for any other purpose.

Additionally, the amendment redesignates existing items and corrects the word "disperses" to "disburses" in item (aa).
