What this amendment would do

SA 5937, submitted by Ms. Hirono, is an amendment to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to create an exemption from the immigrant visa limit.

It aims to add a new section, SEC. 1094, which would allow certain aliens to be exempt from the visa limit if they meet these two requirements:

  • They are eligible for a visa under paragraph (1) or (3) of section 203(a).
  • They have a parent (living or dead) who was naturalized under either section 405 of the Immigration Act of 1990 or title III of the Act of October 14, 1940.
