What this amendment would do

SA 5904, submitted by Mr. Barrasso, aims to add a new section (SEC. 587) to the end of subtitle H of title V of bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to authorize the Secretary of the Army to award the Distinguished-Service Cross to James O. Ratliff.

  • The amendment waives any time limitations that would normally restrict the awarding of certain medals to people who served in the Armed Forces.
  • The award is for acts of valor that occurred on June 18, 1968, during a combat mission near the village of Ap Go Cong in the Republic of Vietnam.
