What this amendment would do

This amendment aims to add a section to the bill regarding a fund established by the Attorney General on May 18, 2026. The purpose is to provide lump sum payments to eligible claimants.

Eligible claimants include:

  • Individuals who served as active duty law enforcement officers defending the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, and suffered death or economic and noneconomic loss.
  • Personal representatives of a decedent who meets the above criteria.

The amendment adds the following specific requirements and changes:

  • It appropriates $100,000,000 to the Anti-Weaponization Fund, with payments limited to a maximum of $1,000,000 per claimant.
  • It mandates that funds only be used for these lump sum payments.
  • It reduces the amount appropriated to the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under section 202 by $102,000,000.
  • It sets a termination date of September 1, 2029, after which any remaining balances go to the Judgment Fund of the Department of the Treasury.
