What this amendment would do

SA 5799, submitted by Mr. Coons, aims to add restrictions on payments from the Anti-Weaponization Fund.

The amendment proposes two requirements that must be met before a payment can be made from the fund:

  • The Attorney General must collect a $500 fee from the individual receiving the payment.

  • The individual receiving the payment must not have been convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer at or around the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
