What this amendment would do

SA 5797, submitted by Ms. Duckworth and Mr. Booker, aims to add a section to bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to require President Donald Trump to fulfill a 2-year-old promise that, if elected to a second term, the government will pay for or insurance companies will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment.

To achieve this, the amendment would:

Transfer necessary funds from the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under section 202 to the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to use those funds to fulfill the promise regarding the payment of all IVF treatment costs.
