What this amendment would do

SA 5776, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a section to title I of bill S. 2.

The amendment proposes the following:

Funding for Violence Deterrence: It would provide $200,000,000 to the Secretary of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2026. These funds are meant to remain available until September 30, 2029, for the Department of Homeland Security to investigate and monitor white nationalist propaganda networks and work with law enforcement partners to deter extremist violence.
Budget Reduction: It changes the amount appropriated under section 102 to $7,250,000,000.
