What this amendment would do

SA 5696, submitted by Mr. Blumenthal, aims to place a limitation on the obligation of funds.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the use of funds from this Act, as well as unobligated balances from title IX of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, until a specific condition is met.

The funds cannot be obligated until the Inspector General of the Department of Justice finishes an investigation.
This investigation concerns allegations regarding the manipulation of Federal Bureau of Investigation arrest statistics and the Most Wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
