What this amendment would do
SA 5693, submitted by Mr. Blumenthal, aims to add a section to bill S. 2 regarding a DOJ OIG Investigation.
The purpose of this amendment is to require the Inspector General of the Department of Justice to investigate:
- Allegations of excessive drinking by FBI Director Kash Patel.
- Allegations of the unreachability of FBI Director Kash Patel.
- Any associated impacts these issues have on public safety and the readiness of the FBI.
The investigation would be funded using necessary amounts from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which the Secretary of Homeland Security would transfer to the Inspector General of the Department of Justice upon request.
