What this amendment would do
Mr. Merkley submitted SA 568 to stop our elected officials and government from funding companies that are owned or controlled by special Government employees.
What It Aims to Change
-
It creates a point of order in the Senate against any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, amendment between the Houses, or conference report that gives a financial benefit to a company or business owned or controlled by a special Government employee.
-
It requires a three-fifths vote of the Senators chosen and sworn to either waive this rule or to sustain an appeal of the ruling of the Chair.
