What this amendment would do

SA 5674, submitted by Mr. Blumenthal, aims to add a section to bill S. 2 regarding the review of deaths in immigration detention.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to:

  • Conduct a review of the growing number of deaths of individuals in the custody of or detained by the Department of Homeland Security within 90 days of the Act's enactment.

  • Publish that review on a Department of Homeland Security website that is available to the public.
