What this amendment would do
Mr. Welch submitted this amendment, known as SA 565, to be proposed for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. As folks who elect our officials, we need to know what our lawmakers are trying to do with our budget.
Purpose and Changes
-
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to creating jobs in the renewable energy industry and investing in the renewable energy workforce of the United States.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise certain allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to creating jobs in the renewable energy industry and investing in the renewable energy workforce.
-
The changes can include investments in renewable energy production, investments in workforce training and the reskilling of workers in fossil fuel industries, or investments in renewable energy resources in energy communities.
-
These revisions only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
