What this amendment would do

SA 5630, submitted by Mr. Markey, is an amendment to SA 5453 for bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to provide funding to offset diesel fuel cost hikes. It aims to add the following to the bill:

  • The appropriation of $69,545,000,000 for fiscal year 2026 to the Secretary of Homeland Security.
  • The establishment of a diesel fuel fund to help national security and emergency resilience.
  • Payments for commercial users of diesel fuel, such as transport, fishing, and agricultural users, to cover cost increases caused by recent global oil market disruptions.
