What this amendment would do

SA 5617, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a new section to title I of bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

Appropriate $200,000,000 for fiscal year 2026 to the Chief of U.S. Border Patrol.
Use these funds, which remain available until September 30, 2029, to train and certify Border Patrol agents as emergency medical technicians.
Reduce the amount appropriated under section 102 to $7,250,000,000.
