What this amendment would do

SA 5609, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a new section to title I of the bill.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

  • Appropriate $1,000,000,000 to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for fiscal year 2026.

  • Use those funds, available until September 30, 2029, to collaborate with the Department of Transportation and the Department of the Interior.

  • Identify and create crossing infrastructure and openings to remove barriers to range expansion and migration, which reduces conflict between humans and wildlife.

  • Change the amount appropriated under section 102 to $6,450,000,000.
