What this amendment would do

SA 5605, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a section regarding the Department of Justice to title II of bill S. 2.

The amendment seeks to make the following changes:

Set the amount appropriated to the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at $30,875,000,000.
Appropriate $200,000,000 to the Attorney General for fiscal year 2026. This money is to remain available until September 30, 2029, for crime lab improvements and DNA backlog to improve Federal and State DNA analysis and collection systems.
