What this amendment would do

SA 5599, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a new section to title I of bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

  • Appropriate $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2026 to the Secretary of Homeland Security.
  • Use these funds to stop firearms being illegally trafficked out of the United States and stop the flow of illicit weapons to the Northern Triangle and Mexico.
  • These funds are to remain available until September 30, 2029.

Additionally, the amendment changes the amount appropriated under section 102 to $7,350,000,000.
