What this amendment would do

SA 5587, submitted by Mr. Gallego, aims to add a section to bill S. 2 that prohibits the use of Federal funds for specific payments and funds.

The amendment intends to change the bill by adding the following:

Payment Prohibition: Federal funds cannot be used to pay President Trump or his immediate family members as part of any legal settlement with the Federal Government.
Funding Prohibition: Federal funds cannot be used to create or maintain any mechanism, fund, or commission meant to compensate the individuals mentioned above. This specifically includes the "Anti-Weaponization Fund" established by the Attorney General on May 18, 2026.
