What this amendment would do

SA 5584, submitted by Mr. Gallego, is an amendment to S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop payments from the Anti-Weaponization Fund (announced by the Department of Justice on May 18, 2026) to specific people.

It aims to add a prohibition on payments to any individual who meets both of these conditions:

They were pardoned for an offense related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the United States Capitol.
They were convicted of a firearm offense after that pardon.
