What this amendment would do

SA 5580, submitted by Mr. Gallego, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to prohibit payments from the Anti-Weaponization Fund (announced by the Department of Justice on May 18, 2026) to certain people.

Specifically, it blocks payments to any individual who:

Received a presidential pardon for conduct related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the United States Capitol.
Committed an additional criminal offense after receiving that pardon.
