What this amendment would do

SA 5560, submitted by Mr. Peters, aims to add a section to title I of bill S. 2 to provide extra funding for specific security programs.

The amendment proposes adding the following for fiscal year 2026:

  • $700,000,000 for the State Homeland Security Grant Program, available until September 30, 2029.

  • $500,000,000 for the Urban Area Security Initiative, available until September 30, 2029.

Additionally, the amendment changes the amount appropriated under section 104 to $1,250,000,000.
