What this amendment would do

SA 5508, submitted by Ms. Hirono and Mr. Van Hollen, aims to change the bill by striking everything after the enacting clause and replacing it with new funding for education.

The purpose of this amendment is to appropriate additional money to the Secretary of Education for fiscal year 2026 as follows:

$40,000,000,000 for carrying out part A of title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.
$30,000,000,000 for carrying out the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
