What this amendment would do

SA 5480, submitted by Mr. HICKENLOOPER, aims to change section 202 of bill S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

  • Strike the existing section 202 relating to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

  • Add a new section 202 to reimburse Americans for high gas prices caused by the war in Iran.

  • Appropriate $31,075,000,000 to the Secretary of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2026 to provide immediate consumer refunds, with funds remaining available until September 30, 2029.
