What this amendment would do
Mr. Welch submitted this amendment, known as SA 547, to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to hold our officials accountable by adding a point of order in the Senate against any legislation, resolution, motion, amendment, or conference report that would increase the average processing time for Federal program applications.
To put it in common sense terms, it aims to stop the government from making us wait even longer for federal programs by creating a procedural roadblock. If a proposal slows down application processing times, it can be objected to, and it would take a three-fifths vote of the Senators to bypass this rule or appeal a ruling against it.
