What this amendment would do

SA 5468, submitted by Mr. Cassidy, is an amendment to S. 2.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services from requiring certain people to return to their country of nationality to apply for permanent residence through consular processing by the Department of State.

This rule applies to individuals who are lawfully present in the United States and are seeking to adjust their immigration status. This is intended to override:
