What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 542, which aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the management of the National Forest System at the end of title III of the concurrent resolution.
This change allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to the management of the National Forest System.
Specifically, this can include reinstating the fired Federal employees at the Forest Service who are responsible for:
- Wildfire mitigation
- Range and timber management
- Habitat conservation
- Outdoor recreation management
These adjustments can be made by the amounts provided in such legislation, provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
