What this amendment would do

Here is the straight talk on what this amendment is about. Submitted by Mr. Kim along with several other senators, this amendment is officially titled as a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing tax cuts for billionaires to be offset by cuts to school meals for children.

What it aims to do is allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes to financial levels and allocations. This is done so Congress can handle legislation that prevents reductions in funding for nutrition assistance programs, such as school meals for children, or stops the creation of more administrative barriers to accessing those school meals.

To keep our elected officials accountable, the catch here is that any legislation using this fund cannot increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
