What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Durbin submitted amendment numbered SA 524 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and through fiscal year 2034.
-
The amendment adds a new section to title III creating a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting victims of crime.
The Purpose of the Amendment
-
The purpose is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These changes apply to legislation relating to supporting victims of crime, including ensuring that grant programs that fund victim service providers or provide support or compensation to victims of crime remain accessible or uninterrupted.
-
This is allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
