What this amendment would do

This amendment, submitted by Ms. Klobuchar, sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund in the budget.

  • Its main purpose is to make sure veterans keep having access to all the health care coverage, benefits, and services they currently get, including those from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

How It Works

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget is allowed to change budget numbers and adjustments for future legislation.

  • These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.
