What this amendment would do
-
Ms. Klobuchar submitted SA 496, which proposes adding a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to lowering prescription drug prices to the concurrent resolution.
-
The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to lowering prescription drug prices.
-
The changes can apply to one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports by the amounts provided in such legislation.
-
The explicitly stated actions that may be included are negotiating prescription drug prices under the Medicare program and outreach to the public regarding efforts to lower prescription drug prices.
-
This adjustment is strictly contingent on the condition that the resulting legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
