What this amendment would do

Ms. Klobuchar submitted SA 495, which proposes adding a new section to title III of the concurrent resolution.

Purpose of the Amendment

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing increases in food and grocery prices by prohibiting reckless tariff policies.

What it Aims to Change or Add

The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to preventing increases in food and grocery prices, which may include prohibiting reckless tariff policies or across-the-board tariffs. These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
