What this amendment would do
Mr. Peters put forward this amendment, known as SA 486, for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. It is all about fairness for our folks in uniform, specifically making sure our part-time service members aren't getting shortchanged.
What the amendment aims to do
-
Fair share of planes: It sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund to make sure that Air National Guard installations receive new aircraft at a rate equal to active-duty installations.
-
Keeping the budget balanced: It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments for legislation on this issue, as long as it does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
